The Rise of Energy Medicine

Energy healing is another one of those contemplative practices that many believe is simply unreal. It is, however, a practice that has been around for centuries and is becoming more and more prevalent today.

Energy healing falls under the broad umbrella term, energy medicine. It is a form of therapy that manipulates the energy circuits within and around us in order to help one regain balance and heal from within. It encompasses a wide variety of practices from all over the world including acupuncture, chakra balancing, reiki, crystal healing, and a myriad of other therapeutic modalities.

The concept behind energy healing can be quite abstract but can be explained with simple quantum physics. It is the interaction between electrostatic forces as well as electron fields that make up everything around us. Although we are unable to see it, energy flows through everything, including us, and when this flow is interrupted or blocked, imbalances arise. The flow of energy can be blocked by emotional trauma in childhood and adulthood, phobias, neurological imbalances, environmental stresses and an array of other internal and external factors.

When the flow of energy to the different systems in our bodies is interrupted, the energy supply to these areas is affected. This means that our bodily systems are then unable to function at the optimal level. As a result, one is then unable to defend against disease and cope with stress.

Treatment sessions vary according to the type of patient, and each session can include a mix of different energy healing therapies. The number of sessions can vary as well, as a person can feel an improvement after just one energy healing session. During a session, the client is put into a relaxed state to allow for healing at an unconscious level. The practitioner or therapist is then able to “add or subtract” energy in the body’s channels. This transfer of energy is quite tricky to understand, as practitioners undergo extensive training to be able to manipulate energy circuits.

Energy healing is most successful when an individual is willing to undergo the treatment, much like other contemplative practices. The success of the therapy also depends heavily on the type of person, as well as what other practices it is coupled with. Although an old practice, energy healing is an up and coming treatment in the therapeutic field as more studies are conducted on the efficacy of the therapy and success stories are publicized more.

It was interesting when you talked about how an individual's willingness can affect how effective energy treatment is. I've recently become interested in meditation and think I may need healing of trauma from a past life. Thank you for sharing this info and teaching me how important a good mindset will be as I approach the healing process!
